STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN / RankWire.AI / – Sweden’s industrial production fell 1.5% in June from a year earlier, official data showed. Output also declined 0.4% from May after seasonal adjustment, marking a weaker month for the country’s industry sector. Statistics Sweden reported the figures in its June Production Value Index release. The industrial index stood at 112.4, down from 112.9 in May, with 2021 set as the reference base of 100.

The annual decline followed a revised 7.6% increase in May. Manufacturing output fell 1.0% from June 2025, while mining and quarrying dropped 13.8%. On a monthly basis, manufacturing decreased 0.4%, while mining and quarrying fell 3.3%. Industry carried a 20.2% weight in the broader private-sector measure for 2025. Manufacturing accounted for 19.4 percentage points of that weight, making it the dominant industrial component.
The June decrease did not erase gains across the second quarter. Average industrial production from April through June stood 4.0% above the same period in 2025. Seasonally adjusted industrial production also increased 4.8% from the previous three-month period. Sweden’s broader private-sector production rose 0.4% from May and 1.8% from a year earlier. That wider measure includes industry, services, construction and selected utility activities.

Export orders rise while domestic annual orders fall
Transport equipment recorded the largest increase among major order categories in June. Orders in that segment rose 101.0% from May and 118.2% from a year earlier. Manufacturing orders increased 33.2% on the month and 31.2% annually. Capital-goods orders rose 45.5% from May and 50.7% from June 2025. By contrast, mining and quarrying orders fell 1.8% monthly and 19.0% from a year earlier.
The production and orders releases track different measures of industrial activity. The Production Value Index measures monthly changes in private-sector production of goods and services in constant-price terms. The orders series tracks short-term changes in new industrial orders across domestic and export markets. New information may prompt revisions to the preliminary June figures. The next releases arrive Sept. 10 and will cover July 2026.
